The Day after Christmas
After the joy and excitement of Christmas, Boxing Day invites us to pause and reflect on the season’s true meaning—giving. Historically, Boxing Day was a time when wealthy families would distribute gifts, money, and food to their servants and others in need, helping to spread joy and kindness beyond their immediate circle. As Christians, we are reminded of the greatest gift of all—Jesus Christ, who came to serve, not to be served.
This Boxing Day, let’s embrace the opportunity to serve. Whether through a kind gesture to a neighbor, volunteering, or donating to a local non-profit, or something else Jesus calls you to do, we can reflect the love of Jesus by serving others. We have a clear chance to put into action the love and compassion we’ve received from God throughout the Christmas season while also keeping in mind that it doesn't end just because Christmas day has passed!
In a world that often focuses on what we receive, Boxing Day challenges us to shift our focus towards giving, showing kindness, and being a blessing to those around us. Let’s use this day not just as a break, but as a reminder that our lives are meant to reflect Christ's love.
As we close out the year, may we remember that the true joy of Christmas is found in giving, sharing, and loving those God has placed around us.
