C*Road Sabbatical
Periodically throughout church history, pastoral staff are granted sabbaticals. This page offers an overview of what this means for us here at C*Road:
What is a sabbatical?
A sabbatical is an extended period of time away from work for the purposes of refreshment, refocusing and revisioning.
This period of absence is not related to work performance challenges, physical well-being realties or any disciplinary related activities.
The Bible teaches of the importance of interspersing work and rest - with an emphasis on an extended Sabbath type of experience every 7 years.
What are the 3 parts of a sabbatical?
Refresh - spending time recharging and being renewed in one’s spirit/soul…it’s a season of filling more than of emptying
Refocus - a chance to shift perspective and focus on different priorities (things that fuel the sabbatical recipient)
Revision - a time to connect more deeply with Jesus and gain clarity and insight for present and future ministry
Our Board of Directors (Local Board of Administration), has granted one of our pastoral staff (Desirae Flores) a 12 week sabbatical that will commence January 19 - April 12, 2025.
During this time, Desirae will be engaging in practices and habits that refresh, refocus, and revision her for this next season of life and ministry.
Here’s the overview of how Desirae is planning to make use of this gift of time:
2 weeks of unplugged from ministry responsibilities (REFOCUS)
6 weeks of abroad experience with Jesus, family and rest (these 6 weeks will be spent in El Salvador) - (REFRESH)
4 weeks of preparation for a return to ministry - (REVISION)
